GLDPartners will be speaking Nov 30 at an annual Invest Stockholm meeting to discuss its recommendations regarding logistics-focused investment attraction for the greater Stockholm region. A leading global city at its core, the Stockholm region is the largest region by population in Scandinavia and is a fast-growing, wealthy, technology-oriented economy. Invest Stockholm is the investment attraction/economic development organization for the larger Stockholm area.
With its UK-based project partners MCJ Lemagnen Associates, GLDPartners has conducted an investment opportunity analysis reviewing the potential for Stockholm to play a larger role as a Nordic-region logistics hub. Overarching Swedish national policy is working to reduce overland transport congestion and reduce environmental impacts of cargo movement and the region has been working to position itself as a super-regional strategic multimodal logistics center by making a range of investments in road, rail, seaport and airport infrastructure.
These investments are part of a larger strategy to win new investment to the region in the ecommerce and distribution segments, and also for tech-oriented manufacturing. We see a range of opportunities for Stockholm and the wider Nordic region and due to its central location, business base, population size and strong transport connectivity – we believe that Stockholm will increasingly play a strategic supply chain role for both domestic and cross-border logistics as a strategic European logistics hub.
